Online Petition: Preserve the Vaughan Glen Hospital Heritage Building

Many of you might not be aware that there is an important City of Vaughan Heritage building on the site of 9000 Bathurst Street within Thornhill Woods.

The Vaughan Glen Hospital, built circa 1928, has served our community’s most vulnerable members in it’s capacity as a seniors home (until 1987) and a hospital for children with disabilities (until 1994). The building is a good example of a Georgian Revival style estate home, one of the only remaining of its kind in the City of Vaughan.

Jaffari Village has continued to demonstrate a complete lack of commitment to the preservation of this site and we believe that they are purposefully neglecting the building in the hope that it becomes too damaged to restore. As you can imagine, demolishing this important heritage site gives them more room to build high rise towers.

Please take a few minutes and sign our online petition (via change.org) to have this important building designated as an official heritage site.
