Community Meeting

  • July 16, 2014 09:00pm - 11:30pm
  • North Thornhill Community Centre

The Preserve Thornhill Woods Association has scheduled a community wide meeting at North Thornhill Community Centre (300 Pleasant Ridge Ave, Thornhill, ON L4J 9B3) on Wednesday July 16 from 9:00pm – 11:30pm. The purpose of the meeting is to bring the entire community up to date on the latest status of the Jaffari development application and to give everyone an opportunity to voice your concerns and to ask questions.

Please click this link to register for the meeting.

There are a couple of important things you need to know about this meeting:

  • We need everyone attending to register for the meeting. We have provided a link to register below. The room we booked has a maximum capacity of 120 people and if we start to go over that number, we need a few days notice to make alternative arrangements. Please register so that we can accommodate everyone.
  • The meeting will begin at 9:00pm sharp. This is the earliest time we could get the meetings rooms on short notice. Please plan to arrive 20 minutes prior to ensure that you get a seat.
  • We will start the meeting with a 45 minute presentation and leave the remainder of the 2.5 hours for Q&A. We know everyone has lots of questions and we want to make sure there is adequate time for everyone to speak. The entire Board of Directors for PTWA will be attending.
  • We need to raise more money to support our ongoing efforts to block the Jaffari development application. We will provide a detailed explanation of our financial status during the meeting and we will answer any/all questions regarding our need to fundraise and how the money gets used. We are asking everyone attending the meeting to make a voluntary donation at the door. We will have credit card processing capabilities at the meeting but cash or a cheque made out to “The Preserve Thornhill Woods Association” is the best option.
  • We know there is quite a bit of tension regarding the Jaffari development application and recent events in the news have only contributed to this tension. Please note that anyone who disrupts the meeting will be asked to leave. Any racially motivated comments that are hateful towards a particular religion or community group will not be tolerated. Its okay to be concerned about community tensions and public safety. Its not ok to make hateful comments. Those doing so will be asked to leave.

If you have any questions, please don’t be shy about sending them to us in advance of the meeting via email or via our Facebook page. This is your meeting and we want to use the time to answer your questions. If you are too shy to ask a question during the meeting, just send it to us in advance and we will answer it at the end of the presentation.

Total raised 2013-2017: $76,000, 2018: $15,780. See our post about how we use your donations for more information. Detailed financials will be presented at our upcoming event, March 22, 2018.
